ABOUT NATIONAL POETRY DAY & FORWARD ARTS FOUNDATION:
National Poetry Day is an annual mass celebration of poetry which takes place on 28 September 2017. It aims to engage people across the country with reading, writing, performing and listening to poetry. It has a particular focus on reaching those who would not normally engage with the art form, and on celebrating the wealth and breadth of poetry in the UK.
Forward Arts Foundation co-ordinates the day by working closely with leading poetry, literacy and literature organisations across the UK and convening quarterly steering group meetings. With its partners, it develops a free resource pack for schools, disperses information about nationwide activites, and runs online campaigns for digital engagement. In addition, Forward Arts Foundation hosts an online events listing and engages a PR agency to maximise press and media coverage in the build up and on the day. Activity on National Poetry Day is then delivered by members of the steering group, as well as by regional literature organisations, individual poets, and poetry enthusiasts across the country.
We seek a highly organised and motivated individual with strong communication skills and proven experience of project management and leadership. The individual must also have the ability to co-ordinate efficiently with others in order to deliver the 2017 National Poetry Day campaign and raise the profile of poetry by building audience participation and engagement.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Forward Arts Foundation, you will develop and implement a thorough communications strategy for all National Poetry Day stakeholders, including schools, libraries and literature organisations.
This is a part-time job with a desk in our offices at Somerset House, London.
The closing date for applications is 13 January 2017 . We expect to interview short-listed candidates in mid-late Jan
