We are looking for a Publications Manager to edit our publications, principally our member magazineHighnotes,but also various project booklets, our Annual Report, the Selected Artists guide, and some marketing materials.

  • Location: 8 Holyrood Street, London, SE1 2EL

  • Salary: 27,000 per year pro rata (i.e. 10,800 per year)

  • Hours: Two days per week, 10am-6pm, with one hour for lunch; the 14 hours per week could also be worked flexibly. The post may require some working outside of these hours, for which 'time off in lieu' will be given.

Work onHighnotesincludes planning three editions a year, commissioning articles, pulling together copy from staff, members and external contributors, writing a substantial part of the copy, sourcing appropriate photography, getting each issue print-ready with InDesign templates, proof reading and ensuring advertising is in place.

You should be someone with experience of writing material for a range of audiences and of editing a publication, e.g. a newsletter. It would be helpful if you had some musical knowledge and a bonus if you understand leisure-time music groups. Wed expect you to be passionate, as we are, about the benefits of musical activity for individuals and communities.

The post is for 2 days a week, but the hours could be worked flexibly, and partly from home. Please do not let practical considerations put you off applying!
