Bound

In this series, Bound, I, collaborate with my wolf-like dogs, and use role play to explore the power play in relationships; specifically looking at the submissive role as the one that actually commands power and control. Each image is a staged photograph in which I perform a certain role (e.g., housewife, dancer, power bitch)...yet it is also a self-portrait. Photographing myself asks the question of vanity and narcissism, particularly in our youth-obsessed and social media-obsessed society. Furthermore, in using animals as vehicles of expression, my work compels us to think about whether or not our narcissism has a legitimate place in nature, and how looking into ourselves and our environment can shape our identity. It serves as a way to define myself on a personal level as well as a sociological level.
