The Maserati Tipo 61 is a beautifully designed sports car that was produced between 1959 and 1961 by Maserati for racing in sports car events, including the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans. “Designed for endurance races, the Maserati Tipo 61 featured a complex Bird Cage chassis consisting of more than 200 tubular sections, which ensured outstanding rigidity with an extremely light weight. The Tipo 61 was powered by a 2.9 litre four cylinder engine capable of generating 250 horsepower which, combined with its weight of just 600 kilograms, enabled Stirling Moss to drive it to victory in 1959, with the Tipo 61 winning the Nurburgring 1000 Kilometres in the two following years.”
