Portrait Modelling Dates for 2019

13th - 16th June 2019

8th - 11th August 2019

The 4-day courses aim to give you solid practical skills and an enthusiasm that you will take with you. I offer you my 36 years experience and my love of figurative sculpture.

These are not a typical sculpture courses where you are left to your own devices to figure things out and many people return year on year to develop their skills.

Portrait sculpture courses are practical, perception and anatomy based and designed to get you further towards understanding what you see. You will be learning the whole time.

Each studio session is crafted to help you uncover and learn sculpture techniques and sculpture skills. Tuition will be both to the group, but also working individually with you to tailor your learning to your own needs.

I hope you will leave brimming with as much knowledge as I can pass on with the confidence to successfully undertake a portrait commission.

The tick box gave me an option of either Beginner, Intermnediate or Advanced.  Actually this course is designed to specifically suit every level as much of the tuition is either to the group or individually focussed.  I often have beginners working alongside accomplished portrait sculptors which seems to work well for all.

Firstly, I should have formally told you how inspiring the 4 day course in August was for me. I battled to make the time and justify spending the money on ‘me’ , and now I cannot believe that I nearly lost the opportunity! I was so excited when I came back and I keep smiling at my little picture of my bust of Aaron on my mobile. I could see that you were a brilliant artist/sculptor in your own right but the real test was – what would you be like as a teacher? As it was you were brilliant it all made so much sense and became so ‘do-able’   CJ  2016
