The Studio Museum in Harlem is the nexus for artists of African descent locally, nationally and internationally and for work that has been inspired and influenced by black culture.

This Fall 2018 the Studio Museum is offering a free course called the Museum Education Practicum, which is designed to provide emerging museum and arts educators with an intensive eight-week training and development program. The course is centered on museums, arts education, and equity, and allows participants the opportunity to gain firsthand experience facilitating and developing inquiry-based tactics and strategies for engaging adult, school, youth and family audiences.

The participants will be exploring both theory and practice, entering into a very specific conversation around artists of African descent, contemporary art practice, and educational strategies. The program cycle runs October 2 – November 27, 2018, every Tuesday evening from 5:00pm – 7:30pm. The application deadline for the upcoming cycle is September 24, 2018 and information about the application process can be found at: https://www.studiomuseum.org/practicum
