We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Technical Manager to plan, organise and coordinate all theatre shows, events, filming, and maintenance for Richmond Theatre.

This is a very exciting time for Richmond Theatre as we enter our 120th year, looking ahead to a full year of celebrations. The Technical Manager will play a key role as we commemorate our 120th birthday this Autumn Season and in so doing, honouring our quality programming that continues to delight. 

Richmond Theatre has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the back of house team as Technical Manager. The role is a senior position leading the technical, maintenance and stage door teams within this busy regional venue. The successful candidate will be responsible for all technical and safety aspects of shows and maintenance within Richmond Theatre whilst ensuring the highest standards are achieved in the presentation of the building and systems within.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in technical theatre and have a proven background in leading and developing teams. You will need to be able to think strategically and plan works short and long term. You will be a good team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others. A good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and the ability to remain calm under pressure are also essential.

Main Purpose
Ensure the technical management, maintenance and stage door operations and activities are delivered to the highest standards in line with budgetary constraints and current legislation.

Essential

Extensive experience in leading a team

Extensive experience in technical theatre

Experience of servicing and maintaining stage machinery

A high level of communication skills with the ability to motivate others and commitment to staff and personnel development

Experience in managing budgets

A good team player

A commitment to customer care and a welcoming personality

A good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation

An ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Desirable

Experience with counterweight flying systems

Experienced with lighting and sound systems

Experienced with building management systems

First Aid trained

IOSH qualification

Working at Height trained

An enthusiasm for live theatre
