MATHEW BRAY & MATTHEW COLLINS Ltd is looking for an experienced cabinet maker with a good working knowledge of making free-standing and fitted furniture, in our SOMERSET STUDIOS. We are a specialist decoration company working for the high-end Interior design industry. We design and manufacture bespoke pieces of Furniture and decorate them to an excellent standard.

Pay rate £15-£18 p/h depending on experience

Description:

We are looking for an individual with a high level of experience in fabricating excellent quality,

bespoke furniture. We offer a varied and enjoyable working environment where our company works collectively to manufacture unique and original furniture and decorative objects.

The majority of our work will be based in Somerset and/or London, but also on site around Britain and International projects as directed.

You will need:

To be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications;

A good working knowledge of many types of soft and hardwoods – to know which is best suited to a particular purpose or task and to understand how to pair construction timbers with specialist veneers.

A thorough understanding of safe workshop methodology and to apply it at all times.

To be capable of setting up and using all workshop-based woodworking equipment, to have a working repertoire of jig making and problem solving in the workshop

To share your knowledge and expertise as part of a production and design team always striving to make better furniture.

To learn from the painting and finishing studios how to prepare the furniture for decoration and to liaise helpfully and proactively.

To be fit and healthy for dealing with the demanding physical requirements of a job working in a cabinetry workshop

To be able to work independently – without supervision or direction from other workshop staff.

A broad knowledge of various styles of traditional and contemporary furniture construction methods.

To be interested in making furniture and be enthusiastic about the art of making beautiful pieces.

COMMON DUTIES:

Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are required

A working knowledge of any of the following software is desirable; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, AUTOCAD or Vector works.

A valid Driving Licence is required.

Other items that are beneficial to an application are Health and safety CITB certification, ladders and scaffold safety certification and First aid Qualifications.

Workshop responsibilities: maintain a clean and tidy workshop at all times.

Organising kits: Planning and organizing joinery kits and materials for individual jobs -making sure they are in good working order.

Site Work: Work on site will be conducted regularly. You will be required to offer assistance installing the furniture we manufacture.

Outlook: You are expected to be polite, tidy and conscientious at all times. You must be prudent in delivering an excellent standard of work.

Health and Safety: You must act responsibly at all times in ensuring your own safety at work. You must adhere to and enforce the company Health and Safety Policy.
