The Bushwick Community Darkroom is a growing organization which provides affordable access to lab facilities and education for analog photographers. BCD is seeking a social media manager to focus on creation and distribution of social content, diversifying social channels, and working with the analytics to further enhance member experience and the BCD brand.

 

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for executing social media efforts to increase brand awareness, impressions, and engagement. The Social Media Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for assembling creative, engaging and on-brand communications across multiple platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Constant Contact email newsletters.

 

This is a part time position, approximately 10 hours each week. Pay is $15-$25/hour (commensurate with experience) with the potential for growth with results. Additional benefits include a 30% employee discount on our services (film processing, darkroom rental, and classes). Most of the work can be done remotely, but this employee will be expected to attend occasional events and meetings at our Bushwick location 1-4 times per month.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Generate, edit, publish and share daily content that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action

Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community

Continuously improve by analyzing appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and acting on the information

Write on-brand, platform-specific copy to drive engagement from our audience

Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences

Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer comments

Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications

Sort and maintain a library of relevant content that can be used across the company

Other customer service duties as assigned

 

Requirements

 

Candidates should have documented experience authoring branded content for social media

Excellent computer skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Passion for analog film photography

Familiarity with scheduling & design platforms including but not limited to: Canva, Later.com, Facebook ad’s manager, Facebook pages/groups, Instagram

In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and analytics tools

Demonstrate participation in a wide variety of social media activities

High standard and level of expertise of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously

Proactive with a results-oriented mentality
