SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must function independently and creatively while demonstrating initiative and follow through. Previous experience working in a consulting firm is a plus. Additionally, the Art Curator should possess the following:

  • Passion for art and design.
  • High level of creativity and innovation when approaching various projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Extremely strong interpersonal communication skills. Should be able to effectively build trust with artists and clients through written and spoken correspondence.
  • Master’s degree is preferred, but not required. Business, liberal arts, fine arts, studio arts, art history or arts management degrees are preferred. Formal studies in art history are required.

 

COMPANY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Art Curator must be comfortable handling a wide variety of tasks in a small business environment. The Art Curator must be highly motivated and have the ability to inspire great work from their team. They will manage up to three art administrators or associate art curators, training them to achieve excellence in their position and potentially advance.

 

Project Leadership

  • Define project vision—identify project goals and selection criteria, art locations and budget strategies.
  • Negotiate terms and draft client contracts.
  • Communicate Art Program to client through written, oral and in-person presentations.
  • Work with design team/Art Administrators or Associate Curators to identify client taste, personality and design.
  • Lead large art committee meetings.
  • Make art recommendations and curate large collections.
  • Meet with Art Administrators/Associate Curators on a weekly basis to ensure that all projects are on schedule.
  • Maintain excellence in art program curation and design on multiple scales, aesthetics and environments.
  • Critique existing art inventories and create programs for inventory disposal, donation and/or reuse.
  • Provide detailed explanations of art in visual preference surveys, proposals and existing inventories.

Client Relations

  • Appeal to a diverse type of clients, modifying approach for each client as needed.
  • Attend client meetings.
  • Establish and manage project timelines.
  • Ensure client satisfaction of artwork and installation.
  • Explain and offer full range of pre- and post- project services

Sales and Marketing

  • Develop NINE dot ARTS’ network of clients.
  • Actively participate in sales & marketing meetings.
  • Develop programs for sales and community presentations.
  • Heighten name recognition for NINE dot ARTS in local, regional and national art communities.
  • Initiate contact with architects, designers, project managers and prospective clients.
  • Consistently follow through on leads/prospects.
  • Lead interview meetings for prospective clients.
    • Research prospective client companies and individual decision makers
    • Gather information on project goals and vision
    • Present our services offered to prospective clients
  • Write intro letter and project approach for RFQ/RFP responses.
  • Attend networking events for new business.
  • Maintain a minimum project GP of 36% averaged annually.
  • Maintain annual revenue expectations outlined in step chart and performance reviews.
