We are seeking an Editorial Director for MOVE THE MIND, an all-Mandarin media platform which connects experience-seeking readers in mainland with information on the culture and arts outside of mainland, where they reside. 

 

The Editorial Director will collaborate with the Chinese Managing Editor to produce high-quality, engaging, and culture-related content focused on Chinese millennial consumers and travelers. Candidate will be directly in touch with cultural attractions around the world and must have a keen eye for areas of future cultural coverage and global growth as he/she will play a crucial role in developing the overall vision and strategy for MOVE THE MIND.

 

Successful candidate combines the innovativeness of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. Editorial Director should be able to suggest ideas for stories and see them through to publication. We expect excellent organizational and leadership skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability. Editorial Director must have a clear understanding of all that MOVE THE MIND has to offer, be a passionate advocate for MOVE THE MIND’s brand and audience, and be a leader in fostering a clear understanding of the role that every division within this company must play in helping us deliver the most engaging and exciting content to our readers.

 

Responsibilities:

●Provide exemplary leadership for MOVE THE MIND and execute the strategic vision.

Ensure editorial direction is on-brand

● Overall collaboration with Chinese Managing Editor; help coordinate an editorial calendar

with Chinese Managing Editor

● Responsible for outreach to the cultural institutions’ press and new media teams by

obtaining exhibition press previews, museum-wide announcements, press conferences, and

other media events

● Responsible for the planning, creative direction, and implementation of editorial products and coverage for museums and cultural destinations and present special exhibitions, programs, special events, and new initiatives to our readers in an engaging way

● Oversee the publishing of daily content and news

● Oversee the creation of questions for interviews and conduct interviews

● Introduce and execute editorial concepts

● Strategize growth

● Serve as a representative of MTM in various professional organizations and events and maintain a strong and effective relationship with culture and travel professionals in this field

 

Qualifications: 

● 4+ years of experience in an editorial capacity and 4+ years of experience in a senior management-level editor role at a digital publication

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Previous experience working in cultural institutions is desirable.

● Self-determined, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced

environment

● Possess a high level of creativity and out of the box thinking

● Passion for innovation, constantly staying ahead of the changing trends in digital

consumption

● Team Player with the ability to work with different personalities to optimize editorial

quality
