Responsibilities

Research property for cataloguing using online databases as well as Internet, industry outreach, and print resources and verify item authenticity, provenance, medium as well as the artist’s biography

Assess property for auction cataloguing and create condition reports for items as needed

Research comparables to assist in valuations

Write well-crafted, engaging auction lot descriptions in addition to auction descriptions

Assist with website and newsletter copy with Marketing team as needed

Assist in the vetting of property with sales team and amending cataloguing accordingly

Support Sales and Marketing teams with research-based selling points and information

Candidate Qualifications

Superior verbal and written communication skills (required)

Knowledge of proper art handling techniques and experience interacting with high value works of art and collectibles (required)

Background in copywriting, creative writing, or scholarly writing (preferred)

Formal research and/or cataloguing experience

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize

Quick and efficient work ethic

Rigorous attention to detail

Strong interest in fine art, collectibles, design, and contemporary culture
