Head Painter

Seeking Head Painter for spray-applied finishes.

Fine Art Finishes, a leading full-service paint shop for sculptural art is seeking a head painter for our Peekskill location, starting immediately. This candidate should be proficient in all aspects of paint finishing from prep to polish and can plan and implement all finish-related tasks. Hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends. Benefits available to full-time employees.

Requirements include:

• Experience with spray-applied coatings, urethanes, epoxies, and polyesters.
• Knowledge and experience in body shop processes required, including paint preparation, bodywork, priming, and polishing.
• Experience with various substrates such as aluminum, stainless steel, steel, and fiberglass.
• Communications skills: will be speaking to galleries, artist’s studios, art handlers, conservators, and fabricators. 
• Skilled in the use of power/hand tools.
• Willing to learning new processes and materials.
• Ability to multitask, be proactive and manage a crew.
• Able to administer, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate all assigned tasks.
• Shows ownership, accountability, and initiative.
• Detail oriented.

Tasks also include:

• Maintaining a clean shop.
• Occasionally lifting heavy loads and working on high ladders/scaffolding.
• Use of a forklift/scissor-lift.
• Inventory and ordering shop materials.
