We are offering a three to six month, full-time internship for a friendly, reliable and motivated arts graduate looking to gain experience working within a contemporary art gallery. This is a great opportunity to become part of a vibrant team who thrive on new ideas, creativity and hard work. Ideal candidates should be passionate about contemporary art with a long term goal to work in the arts sector. 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting the team with the day-to-day running of the gallery.
  • Sourcing articles, features and news, printed and online, relating to the gallery artists.
  • Updating artist biographies and bibliographies for the gallery archives, database and website.
  • Creating artist press packs and liaising with artists about these.
  • Upkeep of the database.
  • Assisting with the packing, storage and handling of artworks.

Essential:

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Meticulous administrative skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to help out wherever needed.
  • A keen interest in contemporary art and desire to work within the arts.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively as part of small team.
  • A sociable demeanour and good telephone manner.
  • High levels of initiative and an independent approach to problem solving.
  • A high degree of computer literacy with knowledge of Windows-based and database applications.
