Art Specialist Prints & Multiples

Purpose: Act as a subject matter expert on Prints & Multiples and Contemporary Art Editions that will allow the business to attract and retain our clients. While helping the clients to optimize their sales or acquisition of art through our web portal. You must know who's who in the Prints & Multiples world and you must know how to find the right price points for Prints & Multiples. Position will start in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn and will move to the East Village within 3 to 4 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

• As part of Paddle8’s Curated Auctions team, will evaluate property to determine salability at auction, working collaboratively with team
• Curating, cataloguing, consigning and selling works at price points below $100,000 for public auction and where possible for private sale
• Meet individual business getting/sales target as allocated by the Department Head
• Liaise with fellow specialists to target buyers for lots in the sales, and create further specialized selling plans for the sales
• Research and prepare auction market appraisals for valuations
• Providing expertise and sourcing of property for special projects, i.e. auctions/sales curated by a personality such as Grace Coddington, Tracey Emin or Tory Burch
• Calibrate estimates, sale strategy and selling terms in order to secure consignments while focusing on profitability
• Manage existing clients and cultivate networks among collectors, dealers, advisors and other experts to raise department’s profile while proactively seeking new consignment opportunities and identify future opportunities to expand client base
• Attend events and panels to represent the Company, where appropriate, to grow networks and further develop expertise and market knowledge
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Department Head

Professional Skills And Experience

• Must have prior experience in a similar role (3-5 years for Specialist level) (1-2 years working with Prints & Multiples)
• Must have academic and market knowledge of marketplace (in-depth for Specialist level)
• Experience with a solid luxury client base preferred
• Highly proactive and intuitive
• Excellent organization skills
• Ability to keep calm while dealing with multiple tasks in extremely high-pressure situations
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Team player who can work professionally and collaboratively with other areas of the business
• Excellent sales, negotiation and influencing skills
