Open House New York seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to join its staff as Deputy Director for Development and Communications. The Deputy Directora new senior management positionwill be a key partner in helping to grow the organization as it expands its programming and broadens its mission. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and the Governing Board, the Deputy Director will oversee a portfolio that includes development and special events, with a focus on individual giving and corporate sponsorships; communications; and strategic planning. There is also wide latitude to shape aspects of the position to respond to an individual candidates strengths and interests. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key partner of the leadership team that will guide the growth of this small but important cultural and civic organization.
Responsibilities will include:
In partnership with the Executive Director, design and implement overall fundraising strategy
Work with the board of directors to identify, cultivate, and solicit individual and corporate donors
Plan and implement OHNYs two major fundraising events, the Spring Benefit and the OHNY Weekend Launch Party
Refine and expand corporate sponsorship program
Oversee government grant administration
Work with staff and consultants to shape communications strategy, including media sponsorships, brand marketing, and publicity
Write and produce institutional collateral, including Annual Report
Participate in long range strategic planning
10 years experience in fundraising or communications, preferably in an arts or cultural organization
Experience with donor cultivation and relationship management, including individuals and corporate sponsors
Experience with planning and managing fundraising and cultivation events
Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think creatively
Comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge and experience in architecture, cities, the arts, or related fields
Passion for New York City
