Indigenous Arts | Writing Over Here: Open Rezidency ONLINE

Overview

Write Over Here: Open Rezidency is a three week online self-directed residency, where self-motivated writers are invited to work within their community to engage with faculty to support their practice.  Participants will meet with the faculty team via Zoom for weekly gathering where they cohort will come together to connect, share readings, and have deeper discussions on their process. 

Throughout the residency, faculty will offer one-on-one meetings, as well as workshops that explore different writing practices. Writers will have the opportunity to engage with faculty throughout their time as needed and scheduled, and are encouraged to connect with their peers, as well as continue to engage in their independent writing practice on and offline.

Adventure Filmmakers Workshop 2021 | ONLINE

Overview

The Adventure Filmmakers Workshop is an exceptional chance for independent and emerging filmmakers to advance their skills under the guidance of two of the world’s premier and proven adventure filmmakers. During this 4 week online program, participants will learn insider skills to hone their craft, strengthen their narratives, interact online with fellow filmmakers during group critique sessions, and will receive guidance on small independent projects throughout the course.  Guest speakers will provide expertise in the areas of storytelling, audio, editing and social media marketing.

Banff Centre | Winter Writers Session 2021

Overview
This 3-day session will allow writers across genre to explore craft, voice and workshop their manuscripts with exceptional faculty Waubgeshig Rice and Emma Healey. Faculty will share their own work, present talks and field questions about craft, and work with writers to hone their writing in progress. The Winter Writers Session is a small cohort program that provides writers with a chance to learn from each other and faculty, attend exclusive talks, ask questions and develop their practice.

Banff Centre | Opera in the 21st Century Online

Overview
This intensive and exploratory online residency is devoted to extending practical skills and development for emerging professional performers. The program offers classes in voice, acting, cultural leadership and entrepreneurialism, online auditioning, and business with senior professionals. Extensive time will be devoted to shop-talk amid a rapidly evolving opera industry landscape that is characterized by COVID-19’s global disruption, and by social change. 

Creative Practice for Contemporary Dance

Overview

This six-day online workshop brings together emerging choreographers interested in broadening their understanding of composition and choreographic thinking, and mid-career makers looking to refresh their practice in an environment of shared learning. 

Amid the global pandemic, this workshop will take advantage of both the restrictions and benefits of online art making, using practical experiments, discussion and targeted research to support the deepening of each participant’s artistic practice. 

Photography Practicum | Media + Production

Overview

As part of the Photo Services team, Photography Practicum participants learn through exposure to a wide range of projects under the supervision and mentorship of Banff Centre staff and faculty.    

What does the program offer?

Practical skills are developed through exposure to all types of photography and to different areas of Banff Centre including the arts, leadership, mountain culture, and conference business.
