Leighton Artists' Colony

Artists with a professional standing in their field and emerging artists of promising talent are encouraged to apply.

There are nine unique studios.  Each is designed by a distinguished Canadian architect and all provide the perfect setting for individuals and collectives from a wide variety of artistic genres to create new work.  Leighton artists contribute to culture and the arts in Alberta, throughout Canada, and around the world.

Each artist studio is fully furnished and equipped with a computer (PC or Mac subject to availability), printer, wifi, kitchenette, washroom, and telephone. Two of the nine studios are designed specifically to accomodate visual artists and feature storage, lighting, and flexible space. Some of the residency studios are large enough to accommodate collaborative projects. Although each studio is equipped with a kitchenette, the artists do not live in the studios. There is on-site accommodation and meal plans are provided separately. Access to tech support, equipment and additional facilities may be available on a rental basis. Please submit specific requests when you apply.

Applications are accepted from a variety of disciplines: writers, composers, singer-songwriters, visual artists, screenwriters, playwrights, literary translators, curators, art theorists, and professionals working in theatre, dance, and film at the conceptualization or research stage of a project.

The Leighton Artists' Colony is accepting applications for residency from December 2016 onward.

Please visit the event website for further details and to apply.
