Queen Gallery is now calling for submissions for our upcoming exhibition which will take place on January 23rd 2019. To celebrate the Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year), the most important holiday throughout the year in Chinese culture, we are looking for works from Chinese artists or artists who also celebrate this holiday. 

Call for submissions | Archives Practicum

Overview

The Archives Practicum program is designed for new archivists with an interest in artistic, multimedia, and/or corporate records. This hands-on experience allows new professionals to gain skills and learn from Banff Centre’s Archivist. The Archivist will mentor the participant in an area of interest such as digitization and digital archiving, arrangement and description, records management, or reference and outreach. The participant will also receive a general overview of the activities of an Archives and Records Management Centre, with introductions to all key aspects of archival practice.

Program Overview

The Library Practicum program is designed for new library professionals with a background in the arts. This hands-on experience allows individuals an opportunity to work with the Librarian to receive direct mentorship on collection management, cataloging, outreach and liansonship, public program development, and public service. Participants will receive a general overview of the activities of the library with introductions to all aspects of the library.

Imagine this residency as a hive of inventors, continuously searching for ways to make each other laugh and permuting every facet of reality. Performance artists, dancers, escapees from the theatre, experimental comedians, abstract clowns, and visual artists who have way too much energy for their own good — we invite you to this hive to exaggerate life to its fullest!  

Musical Theatre Creation

Overview

Theatre Alberta, Alberta Playwrights’ Network, and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity are proud to welcome Bob Martin and Lisa Lambert, creators of the award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, for a master class in Musical Theatre Creation. 

We are in a new golden age of musical theatre. Writers and composers are exploring daring topics, forms, and styles. This three-day workshop will provide playwrights and theatre creators with tools and insights that can be applied to their own writing practice, and an opportunity to learn about Martin and Lambert’s’ unique and collaborative style of musical theatre creation.

Projection Technologist Practicum

Overview

Throughout the summer, practicum participants will implement video equipment in support of Banff Centre’s Performing Arts residency programs. Participants will facilitate the video needs of the Performing Arts department under the supervision of a faculty mentor. 

The program also offers exposure to other multimedia disciplines at Banff Centre including 2D and 3D animation, VR, augmented reality, and interactivity for live performance.
