Mural Roster - BC & AB muralists

Mural Roster

The City of Victoria would like to add to it’s roster of pre-qualified, artists to be available for mural opportunities between April 2023 and October 2025.

This Roster helps streamline the City’s process for selecting artists for City projects and helps to connect artists with local businesses and organizations looking to enhance their exterior walls with a mural. It will also assist the City in connecting a neighbourhood association or school with an artist to coordinate a community mural project.

Summer Writers Residency 2023

Overview
Banff Centre’s Summer Writers residency will provide writers space for the creative exploration of their writing practice. This self-directed residency offers the opportunity to work away from the constraints of everyday life. Delve deep into your creative project and take advantage of the artistic community of your peers around you.

The program provides optional opportunities for consultations with mentors, public readings, and group sessions led by guest mentors that allow creators to explore techniques, aspects, and devices that you may find useful in your practice.

Indigenous Arts Residency: Digital Constellations 2023

Overview

The Digital Constellations Residency supports the development and research phase of a digital media project wherein you can apply as an individual or with a collaborator.

The residency offers time and a supportive environment to focus on the early concept stages of your project and to research and experiment. The digital media project can intersect with a visual arts practice.

With guidance from faculty, our Media Production team and the support of visual arts facilitators, the goal is for you to create samples of work and develop your project throughout the program. You will also have the opportunity to share projects and network.

What Does the Program Offer

Banff Artist in Residence Spring 2023

Overview

The Banff Artist in Residence program is designed for visual artists to focus on their practice in a supportive learning environment. Within this residency, you are encouraged to self-direct your research and time, as well as cultivate new directions in your work. Your artist in residence experience, is further supported through individual studio visits with guest faculty and dialogue amongst peers.

The program encourages experimentation and risk-taking via access to shared production facilities and knowledgeable staff who are available to provide technical support and assistance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to build connections, create networks, and share your work with other artists-in-residence and the public.

The 50th Banff Playwrights Lab

The 50th edition of the Playwrights Lab in 2023 invites applications from playwrights and theatre makers examining issues, topics and stories related to land (sky/water); for example, through Indigenous lenses (sovereignty, history, displacement, ceremony), or in relation to climate, migration, ecology, borders, refugee crises, or environmental justice. The Lab supports writers and plays that tell stories not commonly told on Canadian stages; stories that embrace outrage and wrestle with wild ideas and images; and pursue challenging, multi-disciplinary, provocative approaches to telling stories.
