Collide Copenhage

Arts at CERN and Copenhagen Contemporary welcome proposals for the second edition of Collide Copenhagen. Artists and collectives from any country are invited to submit their proposals for a fully-funded two-month residency shared between CERN in Geneva and Copenhagen Contemporary.

The selected artist will devote this period to artistic research and exploration, in dialogue with physicists, engineers, and laboratory staff. After the residency, a development phase will follow, during which the artist will define and produce an artwork to be included in an exhibition at CC in 2025. Throughout this journey, artists will receive curatorial support from the Geneva and Copenhagen teams.

Connect: fully-funded residency at CERN

Arts at CERN and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia welcome proposals for a new edition of the Connect residency. Artists and collectives from or based in Switzerland who are interested in the exchanges between art and science and in entering into dialogueterature, performing arts, design, and interactive media. 

The selectd artist or collective will spend two months on-site at CERN to conduct artistic research based on their proposal and spend one month remotely to further develop their project, with the curation and mentoring of the Arts at CERN team.

Connect

Arts at CERN and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia welcome proposals for a new residency opportunity of the Connect collaboration framework, which promotes the dialogue between artists and scientists within the Laboratory’s context.

The Connect residency calls for artists and collectives from or based in Switzerland with distinct interest in an interdisciplinary approach and strong motivation for learning more about the modes of scientific thinking and fundamental science. Connect invites proposals from artists working across visual arts, music, literature, performing arts, design, and interactive media.

Collide Residency Award

Arts at CERN launches a new call for Collide, its flagship residency programme, in partnership with the City of Barcelona. Artists from all around the world are invited to submit their proposals for a research-led residency. The laureate, an individual artist or artistic collective, will be invited to spend three months dedicated to artistic research and exploration between CERN and Barcelona.

Collide calls for artists inspired by the processes of fundamental science and interested in interacting with the scientific communities at CERN and Barcelona. We invite proposals that focus on the artist’s current practice and are open to working with physicists, engineers, IT experts and laboratory staff.

Connect South Africa

Connect, an international programme is launched in collaboration with The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, as a platform to foster experimentation in the arts in connection with fundamental science. Over the next four years, a series of fully-funded artistic residency opportunities will be announced to take place at CERN, in Geneva, and in partner scientific organisations worldwide, in Chile, South Africa, Brazil and India.

Connect South Africa invites one Swiss artist and one artist from East, West or Southern Africa to spend together 3 weeks at CERN in Geneva, followed by 5 weeks in the array of astronomy observatories across South Africa, in connection with the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) and the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO).
