Athens Art Residency - Siilk

We here at SIILK GALLERY are looking for photographers from all walks of life around the world for our 2022 residency program.

With the success of our current gallery throughout 2019/20 we have launched a new exhibition space in 2021 in the Athens artists quarter, Metaxourgeio. This has given us the opportunity to transform the upper spaces above the gallery into a residency space, self contained studio and exhibition space.

The residency will consist of a 4 week running program with accommodation where you can live and work from the Siilk Building in Athens, Greece. Use the mezzanine level of the gallery for a show for the 4 weeks or use it like an open studio, run workshops, talks, utilize the space in whichever ways you want.

Fear the tangible, Group Art Exhibition

Fear, a word with multiple conceptual levels for everyone, representing something different, originating from our personal experiences. Sometimes it is an imaginary thing and sometimes it is something real, always an “idea” that induces anxiety. In order to overcome these kinds of obstacles we have to come face-to-face with our fears and actually confront them. But how a feeling like that can be expressed through the “eyes” of art?

SIILK GALLERY - ATHENS OPEN CALL

We aim to exhibit influential and controversial emerging visual artists who belong to underground / alternative scenes from cities around the world that produce their art independently. We look for talents whose attitude and lifestyle inform their technique and work. We want our audiences to be exposed to beautiful and meaningful imagery

How the exhibits work:

LLGBTQI+ & Body | Extension of submissions!

The LGBTQI+ community has always been searching for a safe space to express itself, but always fearing the potential criticism it would receive.

The manifold relationship with our body has always been a taboo topic, uncharted waters and a source of concern for a lot of people, something that gradually changes.

So, how can the complexity of the bond with the body we “live in” be expressed?

In the upcoming art exhibition, we want to invite the people of the LGBTQI+ community to freely express themselves and our goal is to welcome artworks, which will represent the connection with their body.
