The ESC open call is on! For the last time this year, contemporary gallery VVOVVA invites you to join the wave #2031 Autumn/Winter. Aiming to build the future together we ask artists to ‘Create art as you would do in 10 years in the future.’ We peek into distant and unreachable concepts of the world, humanity, nature, and technology.

The fourth wave features the amazing digital platform YYYYMMDD, that in collaboration with VVOVVA, will be the voice in search of the most interesting works. Run by the talented Daniela Grabosch, YYYYMMDD is not only a meeting point that initiates dialogues, but also a collection of art. This digital archive exists without walls and also is an aggregator of art exhibitions generated from various galleries. Daniela Grabosch not only curates her selections with genuine solicitude and attention but also with a strong theoretical and intellectual point of view.

The submission period starts on October 25 and ends on February 10. The selected artists will be notified by email and published in a digital exhibition at VVOVVA on March 1

The second wave of the ESC open call is here!

While looking forward to a more and more digitalized world VVOVVA asks artists to ‘Create art as you would do in 10 years in the future’.

The aim of the ESC challenge is to investigate the future and, in particular, the bond of nature and technology through art. As well as its relation to us as humans, how it forms our perception and views.

For this escape edition, VVOVVA will select the most interesting works in collaboration with 1646’s team of curators, Clara Pallí Monguilod & Johan Gustavsson.

1646 is a project space for contemporary art. A dedicated space for experimental art practices and ideas, 1646 is a platform for new productions and presentations with special emphasis on encouraging artists to realize new projects on location.

ESC Wave #2030, AW is curated by: Clara Pallí Monguilod & Johan Gustavsson — 1646.nl,  VVOVVA.

The submission period starts on October 28 and ends on January 20. The selected artists will be notified by email and published on the VVOVVA blog on February 1.

* UPDATE: the deadline is extended to August 25!

ESC — is an online exhibition that traps your view and mind
in the future, to be precise in 10 years. Primary the ESC is a challenge that aims to reflect the dreams and expectations of the artists. In particular, this is a study of each particular individual connection with the environment, experience, and knowledge. A thought on something unexplored: in another time, in an unknown space, with an unknown audience. We propose the freedom to explore something new!

It is our revolution, an answer to the contemporary design and art scenes… in 10 years from now. It is an escape from reality, a time machine if you will.

CHALLENGE:
'Create art* as you would do in 10 years in the future'

HUBS IMMERSIVE 2019

Eligibility:

The biennale HUBS IMMERSIVE festival is multidisciplinary event that offers an immersive experience of modern dance performances, cross-disciplinary theater, interactive installations and workshops.
The festival aim to push the boundaries of audience participation and set up a frame where each visitor feels challenged at his own level, yet accepted in his potential entrenchments.
The team is looking for works with multiple level approaches that enable and encourage the visitor to feel sufficiently at ease to step from a “classic” spectatorship to a co-author of the art work or/or even becoming the art work itself” “During his/her experience, the visitor shall self- consciously decide on the ‘role’ he/she wants to play in this immersive context and how actively he/she wants to interact with an installation, with the performers and/or with other visitors.”

Under the theme “[voluntary] EXILE and HOSPITALITY”, a total artistic immersive experience, the festival team is looking for artists, performers and other creators which will propose existing works, adapted version, or work in progress.

“Recognizing exile as an internal experience as much as a physical displacement, exile has been a focal point for reflections about individual and cultural identity and problems of nationalism, racism, and war. We are looking for works that are addressing and questioning the topics of exile and hospitality separately or combined together, works that engender new associations of ideas affiliated to the word exile”.
