Healdsburg

"Home"

After twenty years serving the community on Plaza Street, Healdsburg Center for the Arts has relocated to a new home at 334 Center St. This transition inspired the show’s idea of exploring the concept of home. With this theme, we want to celebrate and reflect on change and the longing for stability.

The synonyms for home are many – dwelling, shelter, hearth. Homes may have different forms: castles, cottages, and huts. Animal’s homes such as nests, roosts, dens are also creative structures.

From homeland to hometown, to homegrown to home run, the words convey our personal stories. The  Odyssey is a historic quest to return home, and in modern times we still struggle with immigration and homelessness.

All media are welcome.

Outside the Box

Outside the Box – With its roots in early human history, abstract art has become one of today’s dominant forms of artistic expression. Recent exhibitions show that far from being indefinable movements set apart from the mainstream, abstraction in its various forms has produced some of the most memorable, influential, and best loved art of any era. Today, thanks to our interconnected world, abstract art has gone global! No longer limited to Europe and America, abstract artists from across the globe are expressing and communicating in the language of line, form, color, and gesture.
