BiF Prize ‘20: Award for unconventional photographers

BiF Prize is an annual international photo contest that aims to support authors who think outside the box of traditional standards and search for new forms of storytelling. 

 

Photographers all over the world are welcomed to participate. The choice of theme is unrestricted.

1. Curator, director of photography at Financial Times FT Weekend Magazine Emma Bowkett (the UK)

2. Artist, redefining realness in the context of social identity and fashion, professor of photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK) Ari Versluis (the Netherlands)

3. Curator, interested in contemporary documentary and original storytelling, artistic director of the international photo festival Cortona On The Move Arianna Rinaldo (Spain)

4. Photographer, founder of the Ukrainian Photography Alternative (UPHA) Misha Pedan (from Ukraine, based in Sweden)

5. Curator, head of the Dissemination Department of the Museum of Photography in Krakow Agnieszka Olszewska (Poland)

6. Photographer, Bird in Flight Prize ‘19 winner Shadman Shahid (from Bangladesh, currently based in the Netherlands)

7. Writer, teacher, photographer, focusing on domestic environment Colin Pantall (the UK)

Prize summary: 
The first prize is €2 000.
Prizes Details: 

— The main winner will receive a €2 000 prize. 

— Ten best projects determined by the judges will be published on Bird in Flight. 

— A special prize in the nomination of the Samsung Readers' Choice Award (its winner will be determined by open voting) is a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphone.

— Another 25 applicants will receive a portfolio review by the jury. The portfolio review will be held online.

Plastic Prognosticate

Plastic: a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers 

Prognosticate: foretell or prophesy (a future event).
 

We are seeking new writing, essays, interviews, creative interpretation, reviews, and photographic work that explore and respond to the title and theme ‘Plastic Prognosticate’.

 

You are invited to submit work that expresses notions, ideas and theories on materiality, process and future facing practices.
 

At the core of our work is the exposition of the expanded field of contemporary sculpture and its associated practice. Sculptorvox is an 8 volume publication going beyond seeing sculpture as 'object' and delves into the world, work, inspiration, processes, influences, ideas, journeys and careers of artists, writers, photographers who all work directly or indirectly with notions of three dimensions..

Cover Contest Theme : Surrealism

Marvelous Art Magazine is belong to Marvelous Art Gallery. We are now accepting art submissions for our first issue. Marvelous Art Magazine is now acceptingcover contest art about theme “Surrealism” for our first issue from April 20, 2019 – May 13, 2020.  This Issue asks writers and artists to create works that examine their surreal works. This issue will be publish in our website and social media accounts.

Artists are welcome to submit works in any medium: painting, drawing, writing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, textile, installation, mixed media, digital, film (only jpg + link to video) etc. All visual art mediums are welcome.

Visual Art Guidelines

We will accept art in JPEG, PNG or TIFF formats.

Artwork must be 300 dpi and in black and white.

All artwork must be at least 8.5’’ x 11’’ to fit in the book, and should fit comfortably on a page of that aspect ratio.

“Africa” Digital Art Contest

Pixarra is announcing a call for artists for a new digital art contest under the theme of “Africa”. Submission is free of charge and is not limited in the number of entries. 2D and 3D artists from around the world are invited to show their art.

All submissions must be digital paintings created with illustration software and the participants must have the full copyrights on them. Traditional art, photographies, photo manipulations, collages and animation are not accepted.

D'CLINIC studios invites you to join TRACTOR international artist in residence programme for creative professionals from all the fields of : Visual Arts, Media Art, Music & Sound, Performing Arts, Design,  Architecture, Literature, Research,...

 

Within the framework of TRACTOR you'll be exposed to a unique opportunity to explore, expand and/or develop your artistic ambitions.

 

Located in the west of Hungary, in the historic city of Zalaegerszeg; close to the Slovenian, Austrian (and Croatian) borders, and only 137mi from Budapest / 20mi from lake Balaton. Famous for its natural beauty and rich Cultural Heritage, laid-back lifestyle Zalaegerszeg offers an inspirational setting for intensive, profound exploration, experimentation and/or creation within contemporary art practices.

 

Depending on your needs/requirements and expectations, we'll try to provide you optimum working conditions. The house, studio and its surrounding are suitable for all kinds of initiatives; the offered working space is flexible and generally adapted to each artist’s individual requirements and needs. (you can ask for a foundry, wood workshop, print making press, dark room & screen printing equipment, dance studio, ...)

You also have the option to choose and work with any of the local (art) institution and/or place.

TRACTOR is open to both individuals and groups / artists duos from all creative (as well as art-theoretical) spheres. You can stay from 1 – 12 weeks.

 

All guest artists are provided with a private bedroom, shared bathroom facilities, towels and linens, housekeeping service, and a shared kitchen, common area, yard/terrace, bicycle and wireless internet.

 

EXPECTATIONS TOWARDS THE ARTIST
Each residency at D’CLINIC starts with an art-dinner followed by a “meet the new artist” event, organised at one of our partner institutions; here artists are asked to share (have a presentation) their artistic experiences with the peer group and other interested crowd. All artists that stay 3 or more weeks have the opportunity to present their work within an exhibition at the end of their residency.
