Open Call: Summer School in Curatorial Studies at the Venice Biennale

The School for Curatorial Studies is an ambitious and challenging project promoted since 2004 and conceived as a school committed to experimentation and interdisciplinary thinking. The main goals are to spread the knowledge in the field of visual arts and to introduce the students to the professions related to the art world, focusing on contemporary curatorial theory and practice and contemporary museology.

THE DOCKS supports the development of editorial projects by talented photographers from all over the world.

Residency deadline

Our Artist-in-Residence program welcomes artists and writers working in a variety of mediums and genres to live and work in the historic center of Padula, immersing themselves in our way of life here and becoming part of the fabric of the community for the duration of their stay. 

We offer each artist a private room and a luminous private studio space at Casa Padula, one of Padula's oldest and most stately residences. Residents also have use of the large kitchen, the sunroom, il salotto verde (the green salon), library room and the extensive gardens at Casa Padula. .

The event will be set-up in the prestigious halls of the Bastione San Giacomo in Brindisi, a castle built in the 16th century by the Aragonese. The coats of arms of Emperor Charles V and his military architect Ferdinando de Alarcon are still visible on the south-west facade.

Photographers and videomakers are invited to submit works that respond to the execution mode of Close-Up shooting. An open call without limits as far as the genres, styles and stories that could be told. The Close-Up is a technique that allows the revelation of details, particulars and traits that characterize the person portrayed, and identify them as unique and singular, just as their stories, their personality and their emotions are.

LUBICA - Lucca Biennale Cartasia is the most important event celebrating Paper as an artistic and architectural means worldwide. It takes place every two years in the city of Lucca, Tuscany. Founded in 2004, LUBICA made a pledge to promote tradition, culture, sustainability, and innovation. Its 12th edition will take place in 2024, marking 20 years of activity.

LUBICA aims at bringing together and offering inspiring new opportunities to artists who are looking for a challenge, want to “educate about beauty”, take care of the Other, and are willing to think outside the box to come up with new points of view.
