Artists on the Phone

Deptford X is pleased to offer paid opportunities for 6 artists to develop 1:1 participatory art projects through Voluntary Services Lewisham’s (VSL) Telephone Befriending Scheme. Deadline: 10th June 2020.

Artists will be paired with a service user living in the Lewisham area who has been identified, or identified themselves, as an isolated, lonely or vulnerable person. Through a series of telephone conversations, the artist will work with the service user to imaginatively explore a creative idea or develop a creative project.

The outcomes of each artist’s and participant pairing’s 1:1 project will be presented during the next Deptford X festival.

There is an artist fee of £400.

Label Design Commission

Gospel Green and Deptford X began their partnership during the 2019 Deptford X festival with Gospel Green as the official drinks sponsor for the festival. The partnership was poised to continue for Deptford X 2020 and coincide with a Fringe artist bursary. However, with the outbreak of Covid-19 and subsequent postponement of the festival, and impact on all of our work, we needed to devise a new way to work in solidarity and continue to offer an opportunity for an artist. This opportunity is open to ANYONE and everyone, as long as you’re over the age of 18. Your design can be anything and submitted in any format you want, photography, painting, digital, collage etc.

Inner World- Call For Artist- Boomer Gallery

In times where our lives seem on the edge most of us take refuge in something where they can express their inner self, and nobody does that with more passion and struggle than artists. The aim of this exhibition is simple - to express our "Inner World" to the world, to show our commitment during the greatest single challenge of our generation and to prove that we are not "less" than the generations of great artists before us.

Everyone of us has been at a point in life where we had to endure, endure the lack of support, the lack of understanding from people around us particularly the ones close to us, criticism and the notorious line - "why don’t you get a real job?"
