BIG INK Visits Dedee Shattuck Gallery, Wesport, MA

BIG INK will host a monumental woodblock printing event at Dedee Shattuck Gallery this Spring. Artists interested in carving a woodblock of at least 24 by 36 inches are invited to apply to print with us. No prior experience is required and emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists are encouraged to apply. Upon acceptance, artists have two months to carve their designs. We then meet at the gallery in Westport, MA and help each other print as a group. The public is invited to witness the demonstration and a printing bonanza ensures!

Richard McDermott Miller Competition

The Competition will take place at the 2020 Sculpture Conference and will be held in Daniel Chester French’s former studio at Chesterwood. Each selected competitor will receive a Participation Scholarship.

Objective: To successfully model a bust from life (from the neck up), working from a live model. Modeling will be done in front of an audience (sculptors, patrons, and others who are attending the Sculpture Celebration Conference).

Eligibility: Sculptors must have been born between 1984-1999. All applicants must be citizens of or residents in the United States with a social security number.

SculptureNow Exhibition at The Mount 2020

SculptureNow is accepting applications from established and emerging sculptors for its twenty-second consecutive, juried, annual exhibition of large-scale, outdoor sculptures. The show will be presented for the eighth year at The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home, a historic site in Lenox, MA, from June 1 to October 31, 2020. Existing and proposed sculptures may be submitted for consideration. There is no exhibition theme and no application fee. Up to 30 sculptures may be selected. The exhibition will include both invited and juried sculptors.

Create a large woodcut with BIG INK at Deedee Shattuck Gallery, Westport, MA

Event Synopsis: BIG INK is pleased to partner with Dedee Shattuck Gallery for two one-day large woodcut printing sessions. We’ll be utilizing BIG INK’s giant mobile etching press to pull prints. If accepted, artists will have two months prior to the event to carve their image into a piece of plywood. BIG INK remains in contact with each participant providing guidance and technical support when needed.  The Shattuck serves contemporary artists and craftspeople as well as the local and global art communities by providing compelling exhibitions, enriching cultural events, and a forum for the exchange of creative thought and critical discussion about the arts.  The Shattuck emphasizes the relationship between contemporary art and the environment. The Shattuck is primarily solar powered.
