North of the 45th: 17th Annual Upper Midwest Juried Exhibition

North of the 45th is an annual juried exhibition of artists living in the geographical area

north of the 45th parallel in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The 2024 exhibition

will be juried by Shawn Powell and Annie Wischmeyer based in Kent, Ohio. Powell is an

artist, associate professor, and the graduate coordinator at Kent State University. Wischmeyer is a

curator, writer, and curatorial consultant for Curated Storefront in Akron, Ohio. Together they run Gazebo

Gallery bringing in artists from around the country to stage ephemeral outdoor exhibitions.

 

Eligibility: Open to residents of Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin,

18+ who are living north of the 45th parallel with up to +/- 1 degree of this area.

2023 Annual North of the 45th Exhibition Call for Art

Eligibility:  Open to MI, MN, and WI residents, 18+, living north of the 45th parallel + 1 degree. The exhibition represents artists residing in the Upper Midwest region. Work in all media made in the last three (3) years is welcome. Work previously exhibited at the museum is not eligible.

Submissions: All entries must be submitted by creating an account at devos.slideroom.com. There is a $20 fee to submit 1-5 images; the juror will select specific artworks for the exhibition based on submissions.

North of the 45th is an annual juried exhibition of artists living in the geographical area north of the 45th parallel in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The exhibition showcases artists living in this upper Midwest region from rural and urban areas.

John Foster, a writer and scholar of art brut, photography, and self-taught art is the selected juror for North of the 45th. He holds an MFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and has spent 40 years as an artist, educator, graphic designer, photographer, and curator of exhibitions throughout the United States. Public Art RFQ – “Queen City Courts,” Basketball court artwork for the City of Marquette

The Marquette Public Art Commission (MPAC) is seeking a qualified artist (“vendor”) or artist team to design (“artwork”) and paint a site-specific artwork on the surface of the Hurley Park Basketball Court, Marquette, MI. The vendor will organize/lead any necessary workers or volunteers through the painting of the court surface with their artwork.
