Call for Proposals

We are currently seeking proposals from curators and cultural organizers to program a two-week residency at Anima Casa Rural. As well as leading the residency, curators will have a chance to present their programme and curatorial practice on a panel discussion at the Escuela de Artes de la Secretaría de Cultura de Jalisco (depending on school’s program and availability) in the city of Guadalajara.  Programmers will be responsible for selecting and cultivating artists for their programme, and are expected to assist ANIMA staff in promotion and marketing of their programmed residency.

RECYCLING OBJECTS

The context of this residency is the recollection of found objects that are no longer being used, based on those same objects, composition of the artwork will be made, as the main thematic focus is recycling. The creative process is not to know how many final pieces will be made, or the technique used to transform those found objects, shaping the final piece.

The recollection of materials in the area will be the first step, then the selection of particular structures and objects that catch your eye. Creative process will be supported and facilitated as a workshop by Xilote Ibarra. Workshops will be promote and reenforce the collective learning as creative process.

What the Stones Hide

This residency is intended for artist to look in the surroundings of Anima to find stones -as  an archeology to the memory- in which the found object (a stone) tells us a story, either because of the memories that could produce by the touch, creating contact to the specific region of the stone, or by a creating a story that resembles a memory. The project to develop during the residency is to rescue our own memory, those which might be almost gone. As well as our purpose is to rescue the collective memory of storytelling for a lasting learning to pass on to future generations.

RECOLLECTION / EXTRACTION / REUSE

This artist residency aims to look closely to art practice and theory  as events that not only occur in galleries, museums or any other exhibition space, rather on the street, on the roads we commute every day and even where we live. That is why we will be looking to the relationship of space, the rural and our environment through our different perspectives, so we recognize and experiment with the new terrain thus to develop a critic relations as sensible with it.
We will look at different art pieces and art practices, we will also do an excersice of Recollection / Extraction / and Reuse on site, to finally create and purpose a collective piece on site.
