The Mendocino Art Center is now accepting applications from artists and craftspeople for the 60th Annual Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Fair. The fair is scheduled over Thanksgiving Weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days, at the Mendocino Art Center. The Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Fair draws a large number of holiday visitors from the Bay Area, the Sacramento Valley and southern California, among other regions.

Handmade original artwork in all media is acceptable. Due to the fair being limited to 35 high quality art booths, the jury process is highly competitive. Applicants must submit high resolution images and a photograph or drawing of a proposed booth display. There is a $75 booth fee plus a 15 percent commission on gross sales, with the proceeds benefiting the Mendocino Art Center.

MENDOCINO OPEN PAINT OUT – A Plein Air Festival

The Mendocino Art Center (MAC) hosts the seventh annual Mendocino Open Paint Out (MOPO), a plein air festival. The Mendocino Coast, located along a beautiful expanse of the Pacific Ocean in northern California, is a spectacular setting for a plein air festival. Artists claim that the quality of light is unlike anywhere else in the world.

From the rugged surrounding landscape, to the bay and beaches, to the quaint Victorian architecture and water towers in the town of Mendocino, to the nearby vineyards and wineries, artists are sure to find abundant creative inspiration. And, you will remember the beauty and tranquility of the Mendocino Coast long after your visit.

Coinciding with the renowned Mendocino Music Festival, the fair draws a large number of visitors from the Bay Area, the Sacramento Valley and southern California, among other regions. In addition to the arts and crafts booths, the fair also features live music and festive food and drinks.

The Mendocino Art Center's Artists in Residence (AIR) Program brings both emerging and established artists from all over the country to a unique art center on the rural Northern California coast. The location provides tranquility and inspiration in a community full of local artistic talent.

In addition to providing dedicated studio space and furnished studio apartments, the program provides the freedom to develop at one’s own pace and pursue interests in other disciplines. Our studios in Fine Art, Jewelry, Ceramics and Fiber Arts are actively used for instruction, production, individual study and casual drop-in open studios.

During your residency, the following benefits will be offered:
