JOY OF COLOR: Hue, Saturation, Value

CALL FOR ENTRIES The Art Guild invites all artists, 14 years and older (high school students may enter), to submit artworks for consideration for “JOY OF COLOR” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. From soothing pastels to vibrant monochromes and rainbows, color can be used to evoke emotions and moods. The variables of hue, saturation, luminosity, and lightness allow an artist to play and control the atmosphere in their work. Show us your individuality through color!

CRITERIA All styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original and have been created in the last five years. References used in the creation of the submitted work must be the artist’s own, or copyright-released for use in this work. The curating committee’s decision is final.

#CreateBecauseWeCare Art Contest 2020

Each day during this pandemic, many of us across New York City and the world unite at 7PM to #ClapForOurCarers and #ClapBecauseWeCare to show support for our incredible health care and essential workers.

Inspired by this movement, we at Big Screen Plaza have started #CreateBecauseWeCare, a public art contest to broadcast all-day messages of support, thanks, and hope on our 30-foot digital billboard in the heart of New York City!

Whether you’re working from home and need an activity to keep yourself or the kids busy, or are itching to shout-out positive messages to those on the frontlines, we encourage submissions from all perspectives and corners of the globe.

Are you trying to raise money for an ambitious artistic project? Got an awesome idea but don’t know where to begin? Trying to make sense of how to move forward in this turbulent time? Cooped up inside and need someone to talk shop with?

My name is Toby Singer. I’m a Brooklyn-based arts advisor and working artist, and I started Super Secret Arts Advisory to empower and inspire forward-thinking artists to make the work they want to make.

How does it work? I advise and mentor artistic folks like you on a monthly, bi-monthly, or weekly basis. Sessions are focused on strategic planning and mentorship for building your artistic practice, seeking out new sources of funding, and breaking out of the traditional structures that unnecessarily box in our artistic lives.
