Artist Studios Program

MAD is now accepting applications for the Artist Studios Program, offering studio space and financial support to one Artist Fellow and six Daily Residents for a six-month term, from August 2018 through January 2019.

What is the Artist Studios Program?

Reflecting MAD’s commitment to living artists and to contemporary craft practice, the Artist Studios Program hosts artists and designers daily in a live studio environment.

Since its founding in 2008, MAD’s Artist Studios Program has supported the careers of over 150 artists and designers.

What are the benefits of the Artist Studios Program?

The Burke Prize

The Burke Prize

A new annual award that reinforces MAD’s commitment to celebrating the next generation of artists working in and advancing the disciplines that shaped the American studio craft movement, the Burke Prize is an unrestricted $50,000 award made to a professional artist under the age of forty-five working in glass, fiber, clay, metals, or wood.

Named for Marian and Russell Burke, two passionate collectors of craft and longtime supporters of MAD, the Burke Prize will be determined by an annual jury of professionals in the fields of art, craft, and design following an open application process.

Denim Art Exhibit

Join The Bluefield Artists at the Denim Art Exhibit opening reception on Sunday, April 15th from 2pm to 5pm at Volition Gallery, 103 S. Greenbush Rd, Orangeburg New York.

The Denim Art Exhibit challenged The Bluefield Artists to explore the journey of denim through painting, photography, metal and stone.
Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis originally patented denim, and little did they know that it would become the most popular clothing on the planet.
With this monumental fact in mind, The Bluefield Artists honor and experiment with the world’s most beloved apparel.

NYC4PA Call for Entry - HUMANS

Art history is filled with images of HUMANS that have changed our lives and changed our minds. Painting, sculpture, works on paper and now photography have engaged us in our own reflection. Photography, the most accessible medium, shows us our humanity through traditional portraiture, street photography, families, events and maybe even selfies. This is not about equipment, it is about ideas and vision. We consider our various manifestations as we see through the lens of others. Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, Henri Cartier Bresson, Vivian Meier - all have a unique vision of who we are. HUMANS is a call for entry for YOUR vision of who we are. Images must have people in them photographed alone, as couples or in groups.
