Call to Artists: Collage as Street Art Residency

CALL TO ARTISTS

Collage as Street Art: Letting the Art Find Its Own Audience

A four-week, virtual/online residency with Kolaj Institute in July 2021

Deadline to apply: 20 June 2021

In this 4-week, project-driven collage residency, artists will delve into the history, methods and major artists of the “street art” movement with a particular emphasis on collage. Participants will endeavor to put some of those methods into practice, taking their collage art out into the streets. Documenting the entire process will be integral to the project, as the resulting work will be published in a Kolaj Street Krewe book to be announced at a later date.

M.I.A. (Military Inspired Art)

Deadline Extended

Calling all active duty and veteran service members who like to express yourselves through various media and civilian artists who have a passion for showcasing our military, we are looking for your work.

The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum celebrates National Buffalo Soldiers Day, July 25, each year by highlighting art by our service members and civilians. This year, we plan to showcase submissions in person and virtually along with a virtual artist reception.

Each artist can submit up to 5 pieces.

Mirror in the Dark

Mirror in the Dark explores how flexibility is often used as a tool of resilience as the ebb and flow of life’s challenges are navigated through. The exhibition also examines previous responses to unexpected circumstances and crises. How have challenges affected your life? In what ways did you respond and how have those previous challenges created long-term impacts on how you handle crises? A particularly relevant question when reflecting on these ideas is ‘do crises ever completely leave us?’
