CALL FOR ENTRIES 2023 JURIED EXHIBITION "THAT FACE!" Portraits: Human & Animal

McCord Gallery invites artists to apply for the upcoming exhibition "That Face! Portraits Both Human & Animal". Our theme is open to all artists, age 18 or older, who have captured the face of a person or animal in traditional or non-traditional styles. The artistic intention is to capture the subject's unique personality, giving the viewer insight into their character, be it neutral, satirical, celebratory, cultural, aggressive, docile, quirky or humorous.

Unmasked

"UNMASKED”: to reveal the true character of; a revelation; an unveiling.

McCord Gallery invites artists to apply for the upcoming exhibition "Unmasked". After a year of being hidden behind our masks, we hope to capture the artist's interpretation of "unmasking": to reveal the true character of something. It's an unveiling; exposing what was hidden; revealing the unexpected, literally or figuratively. What can be seen in a new way?

Drawing in Black/White/Grey

"Colour is descriptive. Black and white is interpretive.” Eliott Erwitt
When images are limited to black, white and shades of grey, viewers are drawn to focus on the subject matter, and the details of how the artist interprets an image in the absence of color. The simplicity of a restricted palette works across many media. Quite often, the fundamentals of drawing and painting are introduced with the most basic colors of black, white, and grey. With an eagerness to learn color theory, appreciation can be lost for the depth and versatility of this limited color palette...McCord Gallery & Cultural Center is looking for artists to submit their BLACK/WHITE/GREY works of art.

Call For Entry: In Full Bloom

“In Full Bloom” is to be in a stage of optimum development; the state of flowering. For this open call, non-juried art exhibition, McCord Gallery & Cultural Center seeks to showcase works of art that include flowers or floral elements. Artists can include any interpretation that includes flowers as the subject of the work, or as a significant element within the overall work. Artists may submit up to 2 works for consideration for both an in-gallery exhibit and full virtual gallery of works. All submissions will be considered. McCord Gallery selections are based on creativity, quality of artistry and originality as represented in the images submitted. Visit our website to view the full prospectus and submit through our form.
