ARTIST IN RESIDENCE OPEN CALL 2024

We welcome artists and organizers from diverse practices and backgrounds, researchers, curators, and critics for 1-3 months.

 

You will be immersed in Lisbon’s vibrant underground artistic community. Engaging in our eclectic program of events, schedule of exhibitions, and collaborating with community members.

 

Either as a resident or for those already in Lisbon, a studio residency.

 

We offer residents the possibility to explore techniques, concepts, ideas, and collaborations, to develop a final project.

 

Throughout, you will receive curatorial guidance and support from our welcoming community.

INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

CONTEXTILE invites all artists (national and international) to present artworks to the competition for the International Exhibition, as part of the programme of its 7th Edition, Contextile 2024 – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial, to be held in the city of Guimarães, Portugal, from the 7th September to the 15th December 2024.

In 2024, the Contextile biennial focuses its activities on the thematic concept To TOUCH, transversal to all the rubrics of its programmatic contents (click the link to consult the thematic concept in the Biennial’s presentation text).

Call for Artists for International Print Magazine in November 2023

We're excited to share the opportunity to be featured in the November edition of our International Art Magazine for Emerging Artists, publishing date November 2023.

Artists will be given at least 2 pages (spread) in the publication that will feature at least 2 of their works. 
The artist's biography, statement, website and social media handle will be included in the feature.

We will also select in between 4 and 12 artists to be interviewed. The interviews can be done via Zoom (transcribed by us afterwards) or in written form, and are in between 4 and 10 pages long.

Residency Program ZARATAN AIR

DEADLINE | September 15 until October 31, 2023 (24h00)

ELIGIBILITY | Emerging and professional artists, performers, musicians, curators, writers and other cultural agents are eligible to apply. The residency program is designed for international artists - or national artists residing abroad - for the development of artistic projects, individual or collective. Zaratan defends a multidisciplinary and experimental attitude, where all the areas and the languages of the artistic expression are considered.

DURATION | 4 weeks

GRANT | Once a year Zaratan offers a 4 weeks residency grant, which cover the studio and accommodation fees for one artist selected through the applications process.

INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL | MUDA

ACCCA (Companhia Clara Andermatt) and INAC (Instituto Nacional das Artes de Circo) are holding auditions for a new creation under the artistic direction of Clara Andermatt. We are seeking circus and dance artists with skills in acrobatic techniques, particularly 'hand-to-hand' combined force techniques, as well as contemporary dance. Strong emphasis will be placed on performative and theatrical skills.

The selection of performers is guided by criteria of both technical and artistic qualities, without regard to age, gender, physical, intellectual, or social background. Our objective is to create a diverse, inclusive, and multidimensional ensemble.

Artists will be given 2 pages (spread) in the publication that will feature at least 2 works. 
The artist's biography, statement, website and social media handle will be included in the feature.

All selected artists will get a digital copy of the magazine in PDF format for free, and the print issue will be available for purchase internationally via print on demand. 

We welcome emerging visual artists from all continents and from all fields of Visual Art.

In order be continue to be as inclusive as possible, there is no entry fee.
