UK Residency Opportunity for contemporary artist 2022  - mid March to mid April

The Hide artist retreat is offering a one month part-funded residency, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK while its founder, Alice Sheppard Fidler, is on residency at Casa Regis Centre for Contemporary Art, Biella, Piedmont Region, Northern Italy.

The Hide, UK, and Casa Regis, https://www.casaregis.org are working in tandem to support the UK's and Italy’s contemporary art community.

The UK residency opportunity is suitable for an independent, self-lead contemporary artist, looking to develop their practice.

The cost of the residency is £930 for the month - £30 a night x 31 (a 40% reduction from £1550/usually £50 a night) and includes accommodation in the Shepherds Hut and solo use of The Hide studio, support from The Hide's local artist network, giving access to art events, critique and company, and site support from family members. 

T &C - Once the applicant has been chosen, the full months payment via BACS will be required to secure the place.
Any cancellation made within 48 hours of booking with receive a full refund. 50% refund for cancellations made up to 21 days before arrival. No refunds within 14 days of stay.

Material Flow Exhibition

Artists are invited to respond in their own way to selected artefacts connected to the famous Stroud cloth and its historical narratives. The subject areas encompass materiality, landscape, human and nonhuman relations, industrial developments, local and global trade and colonial networks. 

The call out welcomes 2-D and 3-D work including textile art, painting, illustration, photography, movie image and installation media and is open to artists wherever based.   

The Material Flow exhibition will be held between the 31st of August and the 22nd of September in Gallery One of the delightful Museum in the Park, Stroud 

The deadline for Material Flow image submissions is Sunday 30th June via www.woolandwater.org where you will find all the necessary information. (Exhibitions/Material Flow)

Material Flow is one of six visual arts exhibitions being organised as part of the Wool and Water Festival created by the Stroudwater Textile Trust in collaboration with the Cotswold Canals Trust and Museum in the Park. The Festival also includes commissioned spoken word and music.
