Lacey Contemporary Summer Arts Prize

Lacey Contemporary Summer Arts Prize is calling for entries from UK and International artists over the age of 18 years old. The work entered may be created in any medium, including film and photography. There is no minimum or maximum size limit. The Prize is open to both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works. All entered work must have been completed within the last 3 years. The work selected for exhibition must be available from 3rd August 2016 – 20th August 2016.

EXHIBITION
Up to 50 selected works will be exhibited at Lacey Contemporary Gallery, London, from 3rd August – 20th August 2016. Works will be available for sale during the exhibition with the gallery taking a 30% commission. It is not a requirement that works are for sale.

JUDGING
The selectors will be looking for work that demonstrates the very best in creative representation and promotes craftsmanship and technique. All works will be judged anonymously and there will be no segregation by country, genre or style, etc.

KEY DATES 2016

  • 10th July 2016 – Deadline for online entries, by midnight
  • 19th July 2016 – Results of initial judging emailed to artists by this date
  • 1st August 2016 – Shortlisted artists submit works to Lacey Contemporary Gallery by this date
  • 3rd August 2016 – Exhibition Opening, Winners Announcement and Prize Giving
  • 3rd – 20th August 2016 – Exhibition at Lacey Contemporary Gallery, London
  • 22nd August 2016 – Unsold works to be collected from Lacey Contemporary

SELECTION PROCESS
The panel of judges will initially review all entries from the digital submission process. They will then select up to 50 works to display at the finalists exhibition at Lacey Contemporary. The final prizes will be judged from the physical works once the exhibition has been mounted at the gallery.


About:
Lacey Contemporary Gallery launched during the autumn of 2014 in Clarendon Cross W11 and represents UK-based contemporary artists, and supports artists from emerging contemporary markets. Alongside the galleries’ represented British-based artists, Lacey Contemporary also exhibits new contemporary art from the emerging art markets.

British Council: Shorts Support Scheme Travel Grant Fund

Have you recently made a short film? Has it been accepted to any of the festivals on the British Council's ‘Key Festivals‘ list? If so, as a filmmaker the Shorts Support Scheme Travel Grant Fund is the best way for you to help exhibit your work overseas. You will also qualify to join our Shorts Support Scheme for an 18 month period giving you access to a variety of different benefits: from promotion of your film to festival programmers around the world to invitation to our bi-monthly networking nights designed to connect new talent to industry.
Check out our ‘Key Festivals’ list to discover all the film festivals where we can help you promote your work. If you are awarded a travel grant, you will receive a financial contribution towards your travel and accommodation costs. Grants usually range between £200 – £1000 depending on the location of the festival.
Eligibility criteria are listed in our ‘British Council Travel Grant Fund Guidelines’. If you are eligible for a Travel Grant you will also qualify for the Shorts Support Scheme.

ARTROOMS 2017 Call for Emerging Curators

Program Description:

This is an open call for emerging curators (under 35) worldwide to submit proposals for ARTROOMS 2017, International Contemporary Art Fair for Independent Artistsset in the January 2017.

ARTROOMS is an innovative concept of art exhibition that offers independent artists the opportunity to exhibit their artworks in an intimate dimension, shortening the distance between artists, curators and visitors. The unique setting of a luxury hotel room becomes a pioneering way to access art and to meet galleries, art organisations and other partners.

ARTROOMS solicits ideas for projects taking innovative curatorial approaches for an experimental format. Curators are invited to present a speculative project by the end of July. The Artrooms team will then select 50 emerging curators who will be invited to work with selected artists and to present a new proposal. By the end of September, we will announce the 10 finalists.  

The curator associated with the chosen proposal will curate a section of the fair – featuring 4 or more artists –from the 20th to the 23rd of January 2017.

Curators will also participate to the program of conference and talks, and will have a dedicated page on the fair’s catalogue.Our juror is Cristina Cellini Antonini, founder and co-director of the Artrooms Fair.

NATIONAL OPEN ART COMPETITION 2016

ADULT STATIC COMPETITION

The first round of judging for the Adult Competition will be held in London at The Arts Club, Dover Street, on Monday 1 August 2016 where the images will be projected before our panel of eminent judges. The next day you will be notified of the result or you can log in to check.

If your entry is one of the 500 works selected for the second round of judging, we will invite you to submit your work to Chichester University’s Brinsbury Campus,  in Pulborough, West Sussex, between 24 and 27 August.

All details will be included in a 'short listed'  email.

The Judges will be travelling down to Pulborough to view your work on Tuesday 30 August to make their selection for the NOA16 Winter Exhibition. You will be emailed the following day on 31 August with the result or you can log in to check.

Those works selected for the Exhibition will remain in our care. Entrants Shortlisted for a Prize will be informed, but the Winner and the Prize Winners' names will be embargoed and announced at the Private Views at The Mercers Hall, London on 27 and 28 October.

 

CHILDREN’S ART COMPETITION

There will be only one round judging for the Children’s Art Competition, which will be digital and held in August 2016 and the results will be notified by email the next day in time for the work to be delivered to Pulborough, West Susssex between the 24 & 27 August. Instructions for sending the selected works will be included in the results email.

NOA will be awarding a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize to the successful children and each winning child's school will receive a monetary donation of £2000, £1000 and £500 for their respective art department.

All Moving Image submissions from both the Adult and Childrens Competitions will be judged together by the Moving Image Judges and the results notified by email on the 31 August.

The Chidrens works selected for the exhibition will be displayed as part of the overall NOA Exhibitiion.

 

ADULT MOVING IMAGE COMPETITION

All the Moving Image - Short Film presentations submitted will be judged in August and the results notified by email on 31 August. There will be a £1000 award for the winning work.

 

THE WORLD VOTE

On 3 August we will publish the shortlist of 500 works. We will then invite the world to have their say.

For the 2nd time we are inviting the world to choose their favourite shortlisted work with an online vote. The work with the most votes will be shown in the exhibition.

The World Vote will close on the 29 August 2016.

Tapestry Commission Open Call
 
West Dean Tapestry Studio is pleased to announce the only open call tapestry commission in the UK for 2016.
 
This is an exceptional opportunity for artists working in any discipline to propose a tapestry to be hand-woven by Master Weavers at the West Dean Tapestry Studio. We invite artists to propose bold and imaginative ideas, no experience of working with tapestry is necessary.
 
West Dean Tapestry Studio specialises in contemporary design and weaving using traditional techniques. The Master Weavers are dedicated to working closely with artists and have developed an outstanding portfolio of work, including previous commissions from Tracey Emin, Martin Creed, John Piper, Eileen Agar, Basil Beattie, and Henry Moore.
 
Deadline for entry: Thursday 1 September 2016 at 5pm.
 
The winner will have their work woven by the studio, plus 3 week residency opportunity.
