Acts of Searching Closely

Share

City:

Acts of Searching Closely will be a functioning ‘centre for research’ installed within Artists Studio Company (ASC) Gallery 2–11 November 2016. The space will function as a base for participants and visitors to respond to the questions; How do you fill a space? How will we remember now? As curators we are interested in exploring how these questions can highlight issues and tensions relating to space and memory.

We are looking for individuals and groups who are interested in responding to these research questions. Contributions could take the form of, but are not limited to; objects, installation, event, workshop, activity, performance, meal, walk, talk, discussion, debate, reading, film screening, Skype conversation or other.

Are you interested in working with us? Please contact us at actsofsearchingclosely@gmail.com. Alternatively, if you're able to provide detailed information about your project, please do so via this link:

http://bit.ly/29YihfA

We have developed the research questions in response to the context in which ASC Gallery finds itself. Recently relocated, the gallery is now situated in the Aylesbury – a site of accelerated physical and social transformation. The curators are interested in work and practice that engages specifically and/or speculatively with the South London context.

Acts of Searching Closely and all related events will be open to all, free of charge. Visitors will also be invited to ask the curators and individuals working in the space alternative research questions.

The research and outcomes resulting from the program will be documented in a public facing repository. All work will be credited.

Please note we have a limited budget and as such cannot pay fees to those involved. We hope to be able to cover the cost of materials related to events, works and activities to ensure our collaborators are not out of pocket. Where possible, please assist us in providing as much detail about your work as possible so that we are able to assess its suitability to this project.

We look forward to hearing from you and will be in touch to discuss the suitability of your proposal to the project.

Platform for Emerging Arts #12

Proposed Exhibition dates: 12 - 22 October 2016

 Private View 11 October

This is a call-out to emerging artists who wish to participate in a curated group exhibition as part of Leyden Gallery’s quarterly lease programme – ‘Platform for Emerging Arts’

Leyden Gallery are offering a unique opportunity to exhibit new work at an innovative and reputable London art gallery. This platform show is part of their ethos, which aims to promote emerging contemporary artists in relation to established and recognised names in the art world. This opportunity arises only once every quarter year when they open their gallery space to enable emergent and unrepresented artists to submit work to them for consideration in order to appear as part of their gallery lease programme, which is offered at exceptional value.

Following the successful realisation of their previous Platform Exhibitions, they are once again planning to open their gallery space to enable innovative and talented artists the chance to exhibit their work. This is an open call for work in all mediums.

This quarterly gallery programme for unrepresented artists offers the gallery an opportunity to encounter work by artists who may be suitable for future representation in non-leased curated shows.
