The Dark Side | Third Edition | Call For Artists

Does a latent shadow reside in the heart of artistic creation and within the souls of the artists themselves?

If any figure could parallel the introspective solitude of a monk, it is the visual artist. Though it may stir debate, let us reflect. Consider the profound solitude, the palpable stillness of the studio where silent hours merge into days, as the artist labors and broods over their craft, fervently hoping for the world to awaken to the brilliance of their ideas, to feel the pulse of their passion embedded in their work.

Open Call: VHS/DTV: Viddy Horrorshow/Daytime Viewing

TACO! invites submissions for artist, short-form, moving-image for Viddy Horrowshow/Daytime Viewing (VHS/DTV). Selected works will be shown on a daily showreel at TACO! , presented as part of a special one-off screening event, and published and distributed as a limited edition DVD.

The slow-moving torrents of primetime, daytime and post-watershed programming have splintered into screens that are so much more intimate, that address us not as some vague, general consumer but as exactly as the consumer that we are, or that we soon will be. You’re in there, your image, and all your friends and acquaintances. Accidental uploads, overshares, and family members’ niche political views mean that the box has been superseded by the bubble.

December Fair

Are you a Black or *Global Majority artist or artisan living in the UK? CasildART Contemporary is inviting artists from these communities to submit their work to be considered for an affordable art fair during the holiday season.

CasildART is a not-for-profit Black-led gallery that showcases the work of contemporary Black artists. We recognise that many other groups are ‘minoritised’ and excluded from commercial art galleries so we have decided to celebrate Global Majority artists in our first December Art Festival. We welcome submissions from new and emergent artists residing in the UK.
