2025 Student & Emerging Artist Competition "Techne"

The City of Ocala in partnership with Fine Arts For Ocala (FAFO) present the 2025 Student and Emerging Artist Competition, “Techne.” Techne refers to the Greek word τέχνη, which translates to skill, craft, or the art of making and the aim for this exhibition is to highlight a diverse range of media.

Experience the work of student and emerging artists in this open theme exhibition. All artworks will be available for purchase unless otherwise noted.

“Techne” will be on view from Wednesday, December 3, 2025, through Monday, March 9, 2026, at Ocala City Hall (110 SE Watula Ave., Ocala, FL 34471), open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Ocala Cultural Arts invites you to the third annual OTrak Chalk Walk on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stroll along the OTrak leading to Tuscawilla Art Park and watch professional and student artists transform the walkway with vibrant chalk creations inspired by “Hidden Gems of Florida.” Attendees can also enjoy live music, local artisan vendors, food trucks, and interactive, family-friendly art activities in the park.

Call for Artists: Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize

The Rollins Museum of Art and the UCF Art Gallery invite submissions for Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize. Pathways is a biennial, juried art competition and exhibition for emerging professional artists living in Florida. This edition will consist of a juried selection process resulting in a Summer 2026 group exhibition for the competition’s finalists. All exhibited artists will receive support and networking through a series of events and direct engagement with curators, museum and gallery professionals, faculty, and community to expand their connections in the art community.
