KUNSTRAUM is calling for submissions for our 2023-2024 Curator-in-Residence Program.

For the Curator-in-Residence 2023-24 (“CIR”), we are seeking a self-starter with an innovative and ambitious mind who thrives on creative freedom, is comfortable assuming a leadership role, and has an interest in working within an established artist-run gallery. CIR's mission is to bring a unique curatorial vision to the program and highlight their curatorial practice in the New York art world by facilitating engaging exhibitions and events and building our community.

KUNSTRAUM is calling for submissions for our 2023-2024Artist-in-Residence Program.

KUNSTRAUM offers artist residencies, thought-provoking exhibitions, public programs, networking opportunities, affordable studio space, curatorial fellowships, and discourse for creative production. Through the rotating artist residency program, we offer three-month residencies for national and international artists on a quarterly cycle to join our community. 

Black Ballet Choreographers Creating

This project is spearheaded by Waverly T. Lucas II with the support of Ballethnic Dance Company Incorporated. It will provide studio space and basic resources for aspiring ballet based choreographers to explore and develop the potential of ballet choreography through fusion, narrative content, and reconstructing and utilizing movements in ways to uplift and expand the ballet experience. Each choreographer will create a work from original compositions from black musicians to be performed live.

The project will begin October 1, 2022 and conclude May 20, 2023.

Urban Nutcracker Auditions (2nd round)

The renowned Holiday Ballet with an urban twist.  The soulful celebration is set on Atlanta’s own Sweet Auburn Avenue in the 1940’s, featuring Reggae Ragdolls, Arabians, Black Russians, the Coca-Cola Pas de Six, along with Mother Spice and her Spice Drops. It is all led by the elegant Brown Sugar and her Chocolatier.

AUDITION TIMES: Ages 6 to 11 years - 2:30 to 3:30pm; Ages 12 & up - 3:30 to 4:30pm; Adult Community Dancers - 4:45 to 5:45pm; Professionals - 4:45 to 5:45pm (Please submit headshot, biography & resume to office@ballethnic.org)

 

Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency 2023-24

The Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency provides artists from around the world seven weeks of uninterrupted time and space in the inspiring desert environment surrounding Joshua Tree National Park.  It’s an opportunity for painters, sculptors, photographers, & writers to have a full block of time to focus on their work without the distractions of day to day schedules, jobs or family.  The residency bestows each artist with a place to live, a full studio to work in and a stipend to offset travel costs.

The WAE Open

The Heidi Gallery at JSDD is proud to announce the inaugural juried group exhibition, “The WAE Open”.  Founded in 2004, the WAE (Wellness, Arts, Enrichment) Center is a holistic arts learning program for adults with developmental disabilities.  Dedicated to “Finding the Spark Within,” WAE’s focus is on the personal growth of its members. WAE believes in meeting individuals where they are and supporting them as they identify and achieve their personal goals and, by embracing these humanistic principles, WAE guides members in building a greater capacity to live a full life.
