Illumination 2018

Illumination 2018 continues the tradition, exhibiting original lanterns by artists from coast to coast. Cameron Art Museum recognizes the crucial role of artists and art in creating an exceptional quality of life for a community. CAM believes that art, like a lantern, illuminates the mystery, empathy and wonder of human existence. Artists are invited to submit proposals of original designs for this one-of-a-kind exhibition.

DCAD launching first dual-enrollment program at Cab Calloway School of Arts

Entering college with a few credits already earned is a big advantage for today’s students, saving them money on higher education expenses and helping them graduate with their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees on time or even early. Opportunities for students to bank credits often come through dual-enrollment agreements between their high schools and local colleges and focus on basic courses that serve as the foundation of their degree programs.

Students displaced by Art Institute of Philadelphia closure welcome to explore options at Delaware College of Art and Design

Students whose plans to complete a degree at the Art Institute of Philadelphia have been derailed by the school’s recently announced plans to close are invited to explore higher education possibilities at Delaware College of Art and Design.

The Art Institute of Philadelphia will cease to operate as of Aug. 28. DCAD’s fall semester will commence that same day.

Like the Art Institute of Philadelphia, DCAD offers degree studies in animation and graphic design. These and DCAD’s other two-year associate’s programs – in fine arts, illustration and photography – prepare students for transfer into bachelor’s programs at four-year colleges and universities throughout the state, region and beyond.

DCAD trustees elect Jean G. Dahlgren as next president

Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD) announces today that its trustees have elected the College’s next president by unanimous vote. An innovative academic leader and experienced art and design professional, Jean G. Dahlgren, current dean of undergraduate programs at Sage College of Albany in Albany, N.Y., will become DCAD’s third president on August 1.

Dahlgren, 60, expressed the belief that effective leaders must be “chief articulators, collaborators and instigators” who are eager to share and capitalize on the success stories of their institutions.

Youth can channel creativity, explore artistic potential at DCAD this summer

Olivia Kwiatkowski of Smyrna will always remember the week she spent in Delaware College of Art and Design’s Pre-College Program the summer before her senior year at Caravel Academy. After all, it’s hard to forget something that changed your life.

“One week,” she says, “showed me the potential I had.”

Olivia went on to enroll at DCAD as an undergraduate the following year and complete her associate’s degree in graphic design at the College in 2017. She performed outstandingly in her studies, completed two paid professional internships and represented her class as valedictorian before transferring to Pratt Institute in New York to pursue her bachelor’s degree.
