Show your artwork at Float On and try our float tanks

Float On is resuming our art program and seeking to feature new artists for October and beyond.

This is a great opportunity for any artist in the Portland area of experience level who’s curious about float tanks (also referred to as sensory deprivation, or sensory isolation tanks) and would like to experience it first hand.

Participating artists will have their work exhibited at Float On and will receive credits for two free floats available to them immediately.

Woman Made Gallery CFA: Word of Mouth (Food + feminism)

Woman Made Gallery seeks submissions for our January- February 2022 group exhibition juried by Rosalyn D'Mello (international art critic, feminist writer, columnist, and recent evaluator for the Andy Warhol Foundation Art Writers Grant).

This exhibition will be held at Woman Made Gallery located at 2150 S. Canalport Ave., Chicago, IL 60608 in the Pilsen neighborhood.

EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

For the upcoming Jan/Feb 2022 exhibition Word of Mouth, Woman Made Gallery seeks artwork exploring food through an intersectional feminist lens across mediums. It asks artists to subvert socially conditioned, gendered conceptions of a kitchen, an ingredient, a worm, or even a plate.

Crown Shyness - London, Sept 10/Oct 8, 2021

Sometimes trees can be a little too respectful of one another’s boundaries, sometimes they just stop growing when they get too close. This phenomenon is called Crown Shyness — when the tops of individual trees avoid touching in the forest canopy, creating separation lines and boundaries in the sky. Researchers found that during calm conditions the branches interlocked, ‘like loosely fitting pieces of a jigsaw puzzle’. When the wind gusts the branches, they can often touch and become intertwined.
