“Spring” International Open Call to Artists and Writers—Deadline May 31, 2023

The artist's and writer's call for the ArtAscent Art & Literature Journal Spring issue is now open.

The current issue theme is spring. The seasons pull us from one state to another, perhaps from frozen, hibernating and quiet to thawed, reborn, and growing. Sometimes our spring lets us embrace something new, fall into first love, or see fresh horizons. Spring brings birds, butterflies, frogs, nests, tulips and fragrant blossoms. What’s the seasonal impact in your world? What makes spring more tantalizing than winter or summer? Spring can be literal, abstract, emotional or intellectual; past, present or future; brief or lifelong. Express your spring with words or imagery.

Isla De Crear call-out

Isla de Crear is a creative centre, combining a range of different disciplines in order to
explore creating and crafting in a new method, away from commercial constraints or
industry guidelines, based on the principles of the Fantasism manifesto.
For our new call-out, we are looking for artists, craftspeople, thinkers and creatives
from all different fields to explore the theme:
QUEERIOUS : DISRUPTION
We are purposefully keeping the theme as broad as possible, and encourage you to
think as tangentially as possible.

Open Call to The Mobile Library Magazine Volume 3 Issue 2: Time Capsule: Young Adult

The Mobile Library provides a multi-digital exhibiting experience for artists and writers to showcase their work during the pandemic closures. Each publication is unique, pairing 6 artists and 6 writers together at different stages in their career to build a collaborative experience.

This year, Volume 3 will explore the theme of memory with Issue 2 seeking work that explores memories, moments, and experiences of being a young adult. What does it mean to discover your identity, how did you navigate living on your own for the first time, and what relationships did you cultivate in college or at work? All media welcome - including but not limited to - paintings, drawings, sculpture, illustrations, found objects, poetry, short stories, essays, journals and more!

Issue 2: Situations, call for submissions

holt journal for artistic research is launching a second call for submissions on the theme situations. We have selected Situations as our theme given the wide parameters of application. Claire Doherty, in her edited book Situations: Documents of Contemporary Art (2009, 14), poses the following question as the premise for her editorial choices, “How might we understand or describe the potential for artistic agency in specific places?”
