EXTENDED: Open Call for Submissions, House Letters Issue 3

In the hope of collecting more submissions (particularly written responses), the open call for House Letters Issue 3 has been extended to Sunday 27 September. People of colour and those from marginalised and or under-represented backgrounds are especially encouraged to submit and their work – in all formats – will be prioritised. No formal creative experience necessary.

House Letters is a new independent and interdisciplinary online publication that engages with the uncertain times caused by COVID-19. Following publication of the first and second issues in May and August respectively, the third issue will explore the theme ‘Build and Dismantle’ and be published in November 2020.

International competition for an illustrated children's book project CLAIRVOYANTS 2020

Organised by the Dwie Siostry Publishing House, the fourth edition of the international competition for an illustrated children's book project CLAIRVOYANTS 2020 has recently been opened for submission!

The aim of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition is to launch the process of creating beautiful and valuable books for children and to give the opportunity to talented authors, illustrators and book designers to become known on the book market. The organizers want to stimulate the artists’ imagination and encourage them to create well-thought and refined book projects, that have a real chance to become published books. Participants should demonstrate creativity, skilfulness, sensitivity and understanding of the children’s world.

Around the world for the past few months, people have been isolating to protect each other. Yet even before the pandemic, we have all felt isolated at one time or another. Feeling separate from others is a part of the human experience. Isolation can reflect a physical, emotional or intellectual separation. Isolation can be voluntary or forced upon us. It can be a healing respite and teach us and give us space to grow. Or, it can be a miserable torment. Many of our life choices are intended to meet our need to feel connected. Share your literal, abstract or in-between interpretation of ISOLATION.
