Contrive: A National Exhibition of Photo Manipulation and Surreal Photography

Contrive is a national juried exhibition that features surreal photography and photo manipulation. This exhibition is open to all photography that involves transforming or altering a photograph using either digital or physical methods, such as long or double exposures, compositing, or digital software AS WELL AS photography that is surreal in content. Throughout history, photographers have created their own worlds using darkroom tricks and optical illusions. Today we can create our own peculiar worlds using real-life objects/settings, editing programs, or both. This exhibition is open to all artists living in the United States and will be juried by Amanda Bradley, and curated by d’Art Center Staff.

Opening PEP exhibition - « Interior »

Opening PEP exhibition - « Interior »

What does the interior of a space reveal about its inhabitants? Houses, offices, corridors, waiting rooms... inside spaces are never really neutral. They are built and used by humans with a certain intention or ideology. They are places where people meet, events take place, stories are created. Interior photography, even in the absence of any character, reveals more than what is represented, inviting to wonder what happened or will happen inside, but also outside of the frame. The depicted spaces become like still lives that serve as a tableau of their occupant's inner life.

"Interior" is the first collective exhibition of PEP, the Photographic Exploration Project

OPENING: Saturday, August 10, 6-10 PM

Mirrors and Reflections

FREE ENTRY Artists are invited to submit 1 to 3 artworks addressing the theme

As the title of this call says, the works collected on the occasion of the next LoosenArt collective will expose a theme that has always been subject to interpretations: the mirror, a means of symbolic and conceptual connotations through which the artists of the past have conveyed analytical and metaphorical meanings.
