Portobello Wall Public Art Project: 2019 Comission

Portobello Wall Public Art Project

The Portobello Wall Public Art Project is an annual public art commission for a stretch of brick wall linking two of the most vibrant and well known market areas in London: Portobello Road and Golborne Road. Since the introduction of this project in 2009, successful installations have created a visual link between these two unique markets, and attract over 1.3 million visitors each year.

The budget for the commission is £11,000 inclusive of all artists’ fees, materials, labour and outreach programme costs.

Open call: "Global Frequencies" festival

Lincoln PoPS, a festival of play and public art on P Street on September 21 and 22, 2019 invites entries for "Global Frequencies."

Everything we know about the world we know from mass media. With latest information technology such as the World Wide Web, the world has changed dramatically and shrunk to the size of a screen. We can walk the streets of Lincoln, Nebraska via Google Earth and connect with anyone who is online.

For more than two decades, the term global has meant a social shift from politics to economics. German sociologist Ulrich Beck has called this global transformation “Second Modernity,” where both political and cultural life is overshadowed by the dominance of the markets.

Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program

The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking six sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and support the family friendly atmosphere of the City of Keller. Sculptures are owned by the artist and are loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. All sculptures must be “family appropriate” and pose no risk to public safety; no sexual, bloody or violent content shall be accepted. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller. Pieces that are sold while on display may be removed but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with approval by the Board, within 60 days. This call is open to Texas artists only.

The 4th Annual Riu d'art Residency - Contemporary art in the streets

Riba-roja d'Ebre is a village in the Ribera d'Ebre region (Tarragona, Catalonia), bathed by the Ebro River and surrounded by a stunning natural environment. During two weeks th of June, the village becomes a factory of experimental art, culture, performances, design, and activities.

The international residency of Riu d’art, organised by the Association of Riba Rocks and the Municipality of Riba-roja d'Ebre, is a project which aims to act in certain strategic municipal areas (both public and private) to improve their condition in order to create synergies between public, and private spaces, cultural initiatives and art as a transversal and energising element.
