Dull

Eligibility:

There is no such thing as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person. Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Many of the most engaging works of art are born of an artist’s fascination with a subject, concept or material that others might overlook.

For this exhibition, we are interested in working with artists in all disciplines who are drawn to what other people might initially deem to be dull – artists who notice and perceive things in ordinary and everyday places, things, materials or situations that other people don’t, for example.

In entitling our exhibition Dull, we hope to encourage viewers to rethink this commonly used term. Who decides what is dull or interesting? The term ‘dull’ has a number of meanings and connotations; we would like to invite artists to consider and interpret it in their own way, to produce work that challenges preconceptions and engages the viewer.

This exhibition is part of Fringe Arts Bath 2019 and will be curated by Sightlines Projects in collaboration with Beth Biddiss.

Volunteer Artists and Workshop Leaders

Eligibility:

Kentish Town Community Centre is looking for volunteers with either performance or workshop experience to lead sessions at our new Older People’s Project. KTCC is a charity and a vital part of the local community, providing essential care and companionship to those who need it.

The project is designed to encourage our more mature community members to be more active both mentally and physically as well as provide them with some new and innovative experiences.

We are looking for artists or workshop leaders who can give a couple of hours of their time to come into our Centre and work with and/or entertain our project members at one of our sessions. This would be a very rewarding volunteering opportunity and a great way to start the New Year.

Whether you are a singer/musician looking to try out a new set, an artist who could run a workshop, a pub quiz host or a dance teacher who could tailor their class to a more mature audience, we would love to hear from you. All suggestions are appreciated and you would even be welcome to join us for lunch.

If you would like more information or you feel you could provide an enjoyable afternoon to our community members, please send us your details and a description of what you can do.
