Chicago Public Library Polish American Heritage Month

The Chicago Public Library is seeking artists to exhibit during October 2019 in celebration of Polish American Heritage Month. We are looking for artists who are of Polish descent or whose work showcases Polish traditions, customs or heritage. We are happy to have any type of visual art - photographs, paintings, sketches, etc. or small 3D art such as jewelry, small sculpture, paper-cutting, fiber arts, etc.

To enter: Please submit a brief artist's biography, artist's statement, contact information, if you have a desired neighborhood to exhibit in and 3-5 .jpeg images of your work. We also welcome links to artist's websites, press coverage or social media accounts. While we do our best to accommodate artists by placing their exhibit in their desired neighborhood branches, this is not always possible as we strive to showcase artwork during Polish American Heritage Month in communities all across Chicago. Artists who are selected to exhibit during Polish American Heritage Month will be required to complete the Chicago Public Library's insurance coverage form by August 26, 2019 forms will be distributed after artists are matched with a branch location. By entering you understand that if your work is selected for exhibition, you may be assigned to exhibit at any one of the Chicago Public Library's 81 locations. Lastly, artists or their designee must be available to install and remove their artwork - regrettably, we cannot accept long distance entries or artwork for display that arrives via mail or courier.

SUMMER CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS -  INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY CALL

This open call is seeking photographers exploring the joys of the summer months. We want you to send in a portfolio of your work, up to six images. These images can be themed around travel, landscape, cityscape, portraiture, nature or cultural - essentially a documentation of life throughout the summer.

This is an opportunity for both amateur and professional photographers to share their work and style through the platform of murze, all photography submitted will be featured across our website throughout the summer months, celebrating the medium of photography and capturing diversity and beauty through the lens of photographers from all around the globe.

Images submitted must be at least 300 DPI

Non refundable admission fee of £8

Deadlines for entry is the 20th July 2019

There are no other entry requirements, this competition is open to all.

As stated above all photographers will have their work published on our website. The portfolios submitted will be reviewed and juried by the Murze team, and three photographers will be selected as feature artists as part of our Summer Celebration of the Arts, receiving both exposure on our online platform and a comprehensive spread of both them and their practice in issue seven of Murze, coming out in August.

Assemblage International Artist Call

Our latest artist call is seeking artists that embrace the use of found objects in their work. Artwork entered to this open call should demonstrate the use found and reclaimed material, creating objects of beauty out of what could be considered junk.

[Assemblage. and Found. Objects. Assemblage is an artistic process in which a three-‐dimensional composition is made from putting together found objects. Assemblage, like collage, creates meaning through the association of juxtaposed objects.]

Artists may send in a portfolio of up to six images for consideration. Selected artists will be featured in issue seven, artists will be featured in various categories; half pages and full pages of artwork and text (including full crediting) and a selection of artists will be invited to participate in an interview about their work for a double page spread.  

Non refundable admission fee of £8

Deadlines for entry is the 15th July 2019

There are no other entry requirements, this competition is open to all.

submissions will be reviewed by the Murze team after the deadline on the 15th July, a selection of artists will be featured in the magazine. Selected artists will receive exposure both online and in Issue Seven. All work entered to this project will be featured in an online portfolio on our website after the launch of issue seven.
